Manager/Coach's Report for 2010/2011 Season
Wednesday, 13 April 2011 Wow!
I think its the only word to describe this season.
Fun Fact #1 - In Round 7 of the competition the Padres were sitting at the bottom of the ladder with 0 wins and the worst for to against run ratio in the league.
Then just before our holiday break something clicked.
We trained longer, worked harder and switched on mentally.
Fun Fact #2 - ON the 5th of Feb the padres played the Lions who were at the top of the table, hadn't lost a game in 6 weeks and we won by mercy rule 20 mins early
Our confidence lifted, we "bought our brains" to games and practice sessions and started not only to look like a championship winning team, but play and think like one.
Fun Fact #3 - The Padres have ended the season with 9 back to back wins, most by mercy rule. And Have finished the second half of the year undefeated
Fun Fact #4 - Before our winning streak we had a total of 0 wins - 36 runs for - 105 against - and a difference of -69 runs
Fun Fact #5 - After our winning streak we had a total of 9 wins - 131 runs for - 54 against - and a difference of +77 runs
You all should be extremely proud of yourselves.
Padres Line Up
Dan - Our SS and Lead off. This year Dan had a hot streak of 9 from 9 hits back to back, and he had the highest on base% of our team. You've got all the tools you need mate. Dan you're a legend keep working hard, you aren't a good ball player. You are a great one.
Sean - Our "Starter". This year this kid went above and beyond. In all my years of this sport I have never seen someone pitch with such heart for his team. You're a stud kid. You did everyone proud and had a fantastic season.
Ryan(c) - The team captain. This year Ryan took on the responsibility of captain. He lead the team on and off the field. He was the first to offer up his position if it helped the team. He caught, he pitched, he hit. What doesn't this guy do? Your a champion. Keep it up Skip.
Nathan - Thank god he came to us this year! Our reliever and 1B. Nath was there every week throwing lightening bolts as our relief pitcher. He gave it everything he had every week and has a growing love for baseball and it shows. You had a incredibly good season. Well Done Mate.
Nico - Our 2B and play maker. It become something of a tradition that Nico would end the game with a amazing, out of this world play to seal the deal for the Padres. He hit like a pro this year and had a amazing season. Great stuff Nico.
Nick - Our Catcher. Nick this year gave 100% every single second he was part of this team. He hit the ball with consistency all year and was always fired up and excited to play. Nick you were an absolute pleasure to coach this year, and I am very excited to see you next year. Keep that enthusiasm up.
Jason - Our CF, Jason had a brilliant first season. He hit the ball with authority and stole a base as soon as it was available. He brought some very smart baseball to this team with his clever base running, speed, skill and energy. Well Done Jason.
Alistair - Our 3B. This season Alistair made some unbelievable plays from 3 and threw rockets across the diamond. His power in the batting box is something to be feared from all opposing players. You're going be one hell of a ball player. Great Stuff Mate.
Alex - The best swing in the league. Alex is a natural athlete and it is obvious when he pick up a bat. His swing is pretty to watch. Alex had several games this season where he hit 100% for the day. His attitude and positive look towards baseball is fantastic. I look forward to coaching you next year Alex. Great Season!
Finn - What to say about Finn. This guy has improved out of sight this year and is starting to back himself as a player. His encouragement in the dugout has been all year long and has had other coaches asking me where they can get guys like that from. Finns effort is always 100% and we can't ask for more than that. We are very lucky to have you in our team Finn. Well Done.
Rhys - What a year Rhys has had. He showed commitment to this team I didn't think was possible. Sick in bed, told to recover and relax, but instead he drags himself out of bed (even on the weekend) and comes up to the game to cheer on his team from the side line. I applaud you Rhys. Your game has improved out of sight. You are hitting the ball with confidence and not questioning yourself. You have shown signs of brilliance this year. Outstanding effort.
Conner - What a season. His fielding has improved out of sight. Whenever Conner got on base, it was a sure thing that with his speed and skill as a base runner we were sure of a run. Conner you have had a massive crack at it this year and have given it everything you've got. Well Done Mate.
