Manager/Coach's Report for 2010/2011 Season
Wednesday, 13 April 2011 Congratulations and well done boys for this season. Chris and I enjoyed every minute of it. This was our first season coaching and some of you were playing for the first time and we knew we were going to have our work cut out for us.
The Yankees started off a bit shakey but as we got to know each other better and the season progressed, we became one of the top teams in the competition.
We would like to thank all the parents for doing their bit and making sure the kids were on time for training and at the games, also for helping during the games. A big thank you for Tim and Anne Evans who were the managers of the team, without you guys there wouldn’t have been anyone at the games and no one to teach people how to score.
To the kids for putting in everything at training and then backing it up at the games.
TOM COY- Well done this season and from moving over to baseball instead of cricket, you were one of our key players in the team and never gave up.
JORDAN BROOKE- The start was a bit slow but as we focused more you became a very good player, and we hope that you keep playing, because one day you will be a star player.
AIDAN WALBRAN- Well you were another player who never gave up and you were one to tell it like it is, and its hard to find someone like that, you always knew what the score was, even when we told you not to worry about it.
ALEXI BARRIRE- Always willing to give everything ago, i.e. catcher. Once you did it, you decided never again, but you kept on improving throughout the season.
OLIVER DOWNES- One might say that you were the class clown that really needs a hair cut!! It took you a while to get going but you got there in the end. Well done.
FELIX ASHFORD- You had the smallest glove we have ever seen, and the first bat that you had, had a hole in it, but once you changed bats you became a surprise hitter who would hit the ball when we needed it most.
SHANE JEFFREY- The only left handed player in the team, and one who when he hit the ball it flies long and hard. In the field we could put you anywhere and we knew you would do your best and with that arm it was coming fast and hard.
BEN DAVIS- Well you could run all day and night non stop, even when everyone else was dead you would just keep going and it carried on into the games, you just kept going no matter what the situation was.
RYAN WOODGER- The “Barry Bonds” of the team, whenever we needed a home run you would come up to the plate and crush the ball, when I would say clear the base we knew that something big was coming.
JACK EVENS- Not once during the whole season did you complain what position you had to play, you just went there and did what was required, and when it came to batting that’s all you wanted to do, if you keep at it, it will become second nature to you.
MICHAEL DEARING- After breaking your first ever glove within the first half of the season, (a new record) and got your new one, once the ball was in there it stuck like glue, and with the arm of a 12yr old, we knew the ball would reach its destination.
Chris and I have had a wonderful time coaching this year and we would like to see you all again next season and maybe even win everything.
